Laser labiaplasty to reduce large, long labia and lessen irritation by clothing

Many women are concerned about extra labial tissue, large labia, long labia and loose labial skin. Labiaplasty is a vaginal plastic surgery procedure which can reduce the size of the labia to a more normal appearance.

Laser Labiaplasty

Because the labial tissue is so delicate and thin the laser is the ideal instrument to use when performing a Labiaplasty. Scalpel Labiaplasty requires clamping of this delicate tissue and causes bleeding, and clamping can damage the delicate labial tissue left behind. With laser labiaplasty the delicate tissues are not clamped and the laser seals blood vessels as the labial tissue is removed thus there is minimal bleeding. The benefits of the laser labiaplasty are:

1. Less bleeding
2. More delicate handling of the tissue
3. No clamping
4. Less tissue trauma
5. Quicker healing
6. Less scarring

Laser Clitoral Hood Reduction, Clitoral Hoodectomy

Some women have a long clitoral hood which covers the clitoris and reduces sensitivity. Reduction of the clitoral hood, called a clitoral hoodectomy can reduce the hood and increase clitoral sensitivity. I use the laser for this procedure as well.

Why women choose to have labiaplasty.

The most common reason women choose to have labiaplasty is because long or large labia with excess skin frequently get irritated and painful with tight fitting clothing and exercise. In addition many people feel embarrassed because the labia look different from what they see in other women.

How long does it take to heal after labiaplasty?

The labial tissue heels very quickly. We use dissolvable sutures so that no suture removal is required. Most patients heal in a few days. However we recommend avoiding vigorous exercise and sexual intercourse for 4 weeks.

Who should I see or consult for labiaplasty surgery?

Many plastic surgeons are comfortable doing vaginal plastic surgery. In addition there are many gynecologists who also do vaginal plastic surgery. I do recommend that you search for someone who uses a laser labiaplasty technique. For more information contact us or call 978-369-4499.
